Ghettocast for the win!

Well, we’re back, more or less. We’re now back to doing the show just the way we did the early episodes – on a cheap Behringer mixer, straight into the Line In on the trusty computer.

New episodes should start again later today, though doing live shows is going to be a little tricky. I’ve got an idea for how we can get back to livecasting, but it’s going to involve all manner of trickery with specialized patchcords and an extra computer in the mix.

All I really want is for my Lexicon Omega to start working, but the bastard is right and truly dead and is on its way back to the factory in Mormonland. If you’re looking at getting an Omega, I won’t try and dissuade you, since mine has worked almost flawlessly – right up until it died.

But I will say that if you get one and it has an SV designation on the bottom, take it back to the store immediately and demand an exchange. There’s a known issue with the cabling inside, which is what causes the Omega to fail when it gets hot. Rather than recall and make it right before a customer gets burned, Lexicon has engaged in a bit of gambling douchebaggery in the hopes that not everyone who gets a bum unit will have to have it repaired. Boo, I say, boo.

Hopefully the blue box will be back in a couple of weeks and the live shows won’t require me to have my mixer looking like a medusa of cables.
