21 Day Screenplay - Day 2 Down

So the goal for day 2 was kinda crazy - go from page 10 to the Act 1 turning point. I know, it doesn’t sound very impressive.

But it kind of is. It runs to about 20 pages of writing in one day. Not great writing, I’ll give you that, but writing just the same. And that’s part of what this exercise is about - writing fast, writing from the gut.

My biggest problem as a writer is my tendency to really overthink what I’m doing. In some cases, that’s not a bad thing - when I’m doing technical writing or writing rule books, it’s important to have the whole thing firmly in mind and to not make missteps along the way. Because if you fuck up step 20 in a 200 step procedure, you’re going to be doing a lot of re-writing.

But creative writing is different, and sometimes I have a lot of difficulty switching gears, letting go and allowing the words pour out.

So here’s to Day Two - we’re on page 30, only 90 pages to go!
